How new is it? If not very old, I'd go to the dealer.

I just bought and installed a single cd player to replace my am/fm radio in an 05 F150. I am also getting a cd error when I try to use a cd. The cd player has a second plug in the back. Does the second plug need to be wired?

My wife had problems with hers in her windstar, and I found someone who sells the replacement carriage on the inside, and I switched it out - no more problems. It was a pretty quick fix, and it works great now. It might be worth a shot. Here's a link to the guy's latest sale for this part:

These are new parts, not reman. It looks like it would cost you $50 plus the ride. Just a thought.

No. I have several of them laying here. You can run one on the bench with 12 volts and a ground, it will work all day.
Actually used a 2006 MP3 head unit as a shop radio laying on the bench with six wires running to the pins. Power, ground and two speakers.
Worked fine.

Some don't do MP3's some do not do CDr's. The 06 single MP3 player I used will do any type I put in it, but some say theirs won't.

Six changers are usually sold when they stop feeding CD's...
