Why the $90 aux converter, if we have an aux button???

If we have an aux button is there not already some blank connector on the back of the radio? I looked at the $90 converters and they look like a big time work around. With an Aux button how come we don't just have a port to plug into and wire up some RCA's?? Anyone have a pic of the back of the radio. I don't feel like pulling mine yet unless I have to.

Because the AUX connector uses a specific communication protocol (CAN) that most devices don't use, so you need something to convert it.
