Angry Alpine 9855

My HU display is flickering when I gp from zero to twenty and when I slow down from 20-0, seems like it does it when I hard steer sometimes too; the power has cut out twice in two days and will not start back up until I turn off my truck and let it sit for a while. I have the factory speakers still (until my new ones come in) been back to the audio shop and they say everything looks fine, it worked perfectly for about eight months in my Nissan Frontier; any ideas?

roll your dimmer switch up and see if that works...mine flickered as i had my interior dimmer down pretty low...turn it up (so all your dials, ac knobs) light up, and it may take care of the flicker... good luk

That sounds like an electrical connection problem to me. Did you put it in yourself or did you have somebody else put it in? I would check to make sure that there no stripped wires/loose connections.

On another note, how do you like the 9855? I just got the 9856, and so far I love it.

so it was the illumination wire, apparently the 9855 and 9853 do not respond well to being connected to it, pulled and capped, works like a champ, thanks for the responses though!!

The first batch of 9855's that were released last year had an issue like the one you mention, and future releases were said to be fixed. If your problem returns, send it back.

I have the 9855 in my truck, and I have mixed feelings about it. Overall, it's an awesome HU, but I absolutely can't stand the Glide Touch bar. I just picked up a 9857 that I'm going to install, and see how it compares.

I agree, won't buy another 9855, the glide touch is an accident waiting to happen, on a good note wife can't figure it out to mess with it!!
