RDS Issues w/audiophile 6disc and mp3 hu

According to the sticker on my truck, 05 f150 supercrew lariat, I have the audiophile hu upgrade with 6 disc and mp3 capability. In FM mode, I am not able to turn RDS on or off via the menu button, and it does not display any RDS info on the hu. According to my owners manual, I should have that capability. Anything I can try besides getting it replaced?

Thanks

Are you certain you are tuned into a station that actually broadcasts "RDS"?

Ok! -Sorry for the patronization, none intended! I made the mistake myself of assuming I could get the info off the common stations, but to my disbelief, I could only recieve RDS on our PBS channel...

Well, your not alone with your RDS problem. I seem to suffer from the same radio problem you have described. No RDS. Have you contacted your Dealer? I called the Ford help line and they advised that I take the truck to the dealer. According to the Ford Help Line, the Audiophile systems are supposed to be capable of receiving RDS signals. I am going to stop by my local Ford dealer today. I will update the thread with my findings.

Me too! No RDS. And the volume comp. thing is a joke, goes from really low to high all the time. I will next time I need to bring it to the dealer have them look at it. It does suck because when they pull it to replace it I know it will a re-manufactured unit they are never as good as brand new.

To turn on the RDS you haave to press and hold the "MENU" button. It will then come up and you toggle it on or off. I had to read the manual about 3 times to understand what the problem was when I got my '06 Supercrew home. Works great.

found the problem

In the 05 supercrew, the 6disc with mp3 is manufactured by a different company. They switched to delphi after teh 04's were made. That is why I do not have RDS. It is not selection to trun on and off because it does not exist. Hope this helps ....

Really? I know they switched from Visteon ('04 only) to Delphi, but I'm pretty sure the '05+ Audiophile option still has the RDS option. The regular 6-disc MP3 option does not.
