Factory HeadUnit Question!

Hey guys.. I have an 04 F150 new style with factory regular cd player. I want to upgrade to factory MP3 player. Would a headunit from an 05 be compatible with an 04? I called a dealer near me and he had no clue, he said that he would hav eto call Ford. Thanks

Matt

05 and 04 are identical as far as HU connections go. Only thing to look for is there are two types that play MP3s - The standard 6 disk and the Audiophile. Only reason I mention that is the Audiophile unit has a built in crossover that cuts the bass freq. to the door speakers. If you try to run it without a sub, it'll most likely sound like crap.

Easiest way to tell them apart is the standard HU has 2 plugs on the back - The Audiophile has 3.

I have the Audiophile 6disc mp3 i purchased on E-bay for about $300 delivered and it sounds great. I had the single cd and the Audiophile just plugged right in and sounds good. It can't compare to an aftermarket system and the sub would definitely give it some umph. But I am very pleased wit the features and the flexibility.

right now I have the single cd without factory sub but once I get time I am installing a 10" sub in the back, I have the sub and amp and everything, I just need time to install it..
