Aftermarket radio behind ashtray door

I have an idea to install my alpine in the ashtry compartment(with some modification). I know that that is enough room. My intent is to unhook the stock radio and utilize the alpine so that it stays stealthy. Any thoughts?

With a little creativity it can be done. I'd say remove the ashtray and then scout out a good mounting kit. I'm tired of having things stolen so I say go for it. It may be easier though to mount it in the OEM radio spot and create a stealth face. Counter sink the new unit and then find a donor OEM radio for the face. Remove the face and use it to cover up the Alpine. Good luck and post up some pics if it works out.
