I am researching to replace my single disc player from 00 F-150 to Mach mp3 player......has anyone else done this and what compatability or other issues do i need to be aware of before i buy the mach....

Looks like the harness connections are the same between the two....

I did this at one time along my numerous changes. No issues at all, just plug and play. It even controls the stock changer if you have one.

Yep... took about 3 minutes. Use the silly U-ring tool to pop out the old unit, unhook one wiring plug, plug it into new unit... pop new unit in. Bingo Bango Bongo. I have it running into a Scoche adapter and then into my US Acoustics 2150 which powers my Focal Polykevlars 165K2 components set. Door mounted tweets and stock positions 6.5" in the doors. Sounds great and I get lots of compliments... even from people that usually wouldn't care (like my Dad). Only issue is that now one of my midrange's is buzzing like there is a hole in the surround. Heading to the shop to have it checked out again tomorrow.

Sorry for that tangent... short answer.. easy as pie to go Mach from stock!

Regs,
Jeff

regarding the Mach mp3 and the stock 6 disc cd changer, would I be able to put MP3 discs into the changer? Would it work? Or does the stock cd changer (behind rear seat) only play regular CD's?

Just thinking, cause it would be cool as heck to load it with 6 MP3 discs. That's more than my entire music collection (not very impressive, but enough for me).

Nope, just regular CDs in the changer. The reading mechanism doesn't support data discs.

last question, I promise!

Is the factory Mach Mp3 unit a 6 disc in-dash? Or just single disc?

Have you even seen the Mach MP3 player? These questions make it sound like you haven't and you've just heard about it. They have a number of different faceplate designs/colors.

Here's the data on it from Visteon: Mach MP3

I've seen the Mach MP3, but it looks basically the same as a 6 disc in dash CD player, so I wasn't sure. Thanks for the link.

Anyone know of a head unit that is double din, 6 disc in dash, AND plays MP3's? I'll do a yahoo search. This is what i'm looking for.

Nope, you can have either/or, but not both. The Explorer OEM units will plug directly into your harness and are 6-disc in dash, but will not play MP3s. You won't find what you want. Even all the aftermarket units don't have 6-disc in dash.

Your truck isn't a true double DIN either. Only the new body style F150s are double DIN. This is about as close as you will come, but it won't fit your truck in size or harness: 6-disc in dash MP3

Stng,
I just removed my Visteon MACH MP3 player (I installed a new Alpine Navigation head unit). I'm about to list my Mach on Ebay along with the changer. Let me know if you want it before I list it.
