2005 MP3 CD6 Non Audiophile

Anybody notice that they have to really turn the volume up to hear this thing especially using the tuner, not as bad on the CD. To hear it over road noise I have to have it at least half volume. Full volume is still comfortable to have a conversation.

My 2002 with the equivalent system was way louder. Usually kept it about 2-3 volume bars.

Haven't listened to the radio much as there really hasn't been anything good these past few years around here. But, yeah, mine's up almost 1/3-1/2 way up to be hearable. But that's no indication of it being broken. It's what some SW guy decided to program into the DSP and how it's displayed...

I've never had to crank it so high to full to drown out roadnoise, but then I'm not usually driving with the windows down either. :-)

Yeah, it's not as powerful as the single CD unit. Doesn't sound as good either. There's so much insulation on my 05 FX4 I don't hear the road at all with the windows up.

You can always go into the menu and set the volume to get louder as your speed increases. It's a nifty function if you ride around with the windows down.

The speed sensative volume does help (my 2002 had it too). Anyways -Its been saying BAD DISC 2 or 3 times before finally accepting a disc into the changer and skipping the last few seconds of songs to the start of the next track -so, the dealer has ordered another one for me.

Probably won't be any different power wise, but hopfully the CD player works better. Hopefully the tuner is more sensative too, a number of stations I get flawlessly in the Taurus are fuzzy on this truck sitting side by side.

I'm hoping the radio was just kind of a DUD all the way around.

I make up for the lack of your carbon footprint.

Store bought audio CD's. They play fine anywhere else. Actually they would play after 2 or 3 BAD DISC ejections. But still the end of songs gets randomly cut off -even on ones that did not say BAD DISC.

Dealer says 3 weeks to get a radio!!??

I thought the audiophile HU was the only one that included mp3... that it was one of the added features of the audiophile.

I believe the audiophile adds RDS, component front speakers, under seat sub and filters in the HU for the different frequencies to the sub and door speakers.

I have not tried mp3's yet. I have heard that these HU's choke on them frequently though. I guess folks have better luck converting them to CD audio files -but that kinda defeats the purpose!

Yeah, I don't really bother with regular cd's anymore. I get a disk, rip it to the HD, make a new cd with 10 other albums...

Now I've got my Sirius Sat radio in, I kinda forgot that I have a cd player...

I have been hoping someone figures out how to get the max volume out of this thing. It is capable of putting out good volume, just not when it is at low speed or stopped. If you set your speed compensated volume control to 7, it kicks out good volume at highway speed. However, if you turn this feature off, then the volume stays low as it would if the truck was stopped with the control on. What needs to be figured out is how to override the speed compensated volume control so that the unit performs at it's max even when stopped or at low speeds. Their must be a sensor somewhere, hell I don't know jack about electronics. I just want more volume without going with an aftermarket unit.
