Question CD's not recognized in changer

Friends truck, 97 F150 Supercab. Six disc changer in the back. Says it won't play CD's anymore, both home-recorded and new.

Said the light flashes in order but never plays the CD, just moves on to the next one like nothing is there...

Any suggestions? These things need to be cleaned or something?

They should be cleaned occasionally. But, it sounds like the laser has expired. Time to get another changer.
