I got a Sony Xplod f7715x installed for $269 plus adaptors final cost $327.00. The radio sounds much better and has some neat features like MP3 playback but most importantly it has the Auxiliary input for my XM Roady, there is no comparison in the sound quality to the FM modulator, it simply blows it out of the water. It is clean and clear.
There is one aspect of the install that I did not foresee though and that was being able to sell my stock radio on Ebay for $157. There apparently is quite a market for the stock radios there. I had 16 people watching my radio's auction. ( It was a single CD unit with RDS from my 2000 F150 )
I guess what I am saying is,, if you debating a new HU it is worth it, cleaner sound, more features and less expensive then you may think. $327 - $157 = $170 !! ( you can get good radios for around $199 so it is really affordable. )

Thats exactly what i always...do sell the factory unit on Ebay. But then what I do is buy a factory tape player off ebay so that you can replace the aftermarket radio if you ever sell or trade it (or even worse it gets totaled). You can usually get the tape players for $25 give or take.
