Talking 2001 HD Supercrew

Well, the dealer finally got the go-ahead to order our 2001 HD Supercrew...had to take my bride to Sturgis this year, walked into the Convention cener and there it was!!! I tried to talk her out of it, even as far as getting her several test rides on Softails. Anyone who was there knows how long the lines were..at least there was a beer tent within crawling distance. Nah, she wants that Supercrew. I ain't bought a NEW cage in 25 years! The dealer made me a decent offer on 1 of 2 HD Supercabs he has on the lot but...nah! Who am I to argue with a woman who wants to buy a truck? Guess the shovelhead restoration will have to wait, at least the dang thing runs!!!

Cool

Wow, COOL, PhillyRube, and Congrats are in order! I wish they had offered the heated seats and the moonroof on the 2000 edition. I would definitely have gone for them!

What is your estimated wait time to get it?

The dealer can't even work the price up yet. He expects to see something the end of February as far as a build date (born on date??) and delivery sometime the end of March/beginning of April.

I got that long to finish the shovel......

Wink

If it was like last year, you might have even a longer wait. The first ones were finally delivered in May. Anyhow, looking forward to your comments on the new truck when you get it.

And, the good thing is, you can get the Shovel done!

Congrats...its a very sexy truck. I was actually gonna hold out for the 2001 model until I got a deal on my 2000. If you want to read a review go to www.ign.com under For Men/machines. Only negative is that truck feels underpowered with the 5.4 still at 260hp with suggestion that the supercharged L engine would be better. Any bets by the time they get to the 2004 version we might have one ?

My '01 SuperCrew HD has a scheduled build date of Jan 14. My dealer tells me that it's gonna about 4 weeks to get it back from Milwaulkee (HD). When I saw the truck over thanksgiving at the Orlando Car Show I had to have it... can't wait!

The HD SuperCrews should start showing up soon. Their all being built in KC (like all SuperCrews) so shipping times will vary based on where you live. They are building the trucks though. The one I have coming for stock is scheduled to be built Mid Feb. There should be a lot more of these trucks than there were last year. The dealers in the KC region were all promised at least one if they wanted it. Where last year only a few dealers got trucks. Loaded up they'll sticker at $36,060.

Given the number of dealers I talked with who were po'd with Ford on build numbers for 2000 and hence their ability to command a premium price, more build on a 2001 might translate to better deals once we get beyond the mid-Feb first roll out date. Which might also make some of the 2000 owners feel better since our year is looking more like a one of a kind year with the Supercab and an Oakville build--guess time will tell....the Supercrew edition tho looks great standing still...hmmm
