Thumbs up

I dunno. I get anywhere from 17-19 with the Superchip and FIPK.

I'll bet the difference is that I rarely go over 65 mph here in rural Iowa. No interstates close by, so, basically my driving is around 60 mph and not much stop and go. Good for the truck, though, it should last 500,000 miles with that kind of use.

MotorWorf and casey k: I think the fella who talked about the 3.73 rear end on his truck just lives in Mexico. He didn't buy it from any Mexico assembly plant. I hope he jumps back in and tells us how come he's the only one with the 3.73 rear end!

*All* the HD editions for 2000 were built in Canada. The 2001 SuperCrew editions will be built in the USA as well as Canada, though.

Ford doesn't build F-150s in Mexico.

Clonetek: what a nice combo in the photo! I dropped into the dealer where I bought my HD drawn in by the 4 Lightnings in every colour on the lot--I liked the silver a lot--nice paint. Then I went inside and lo and behold there's my black beauty just sitting there. Supposedly had it since end of July in their back 40, dragged it out into the showroom and was drawing a crowd--this is 3rd week in Sept--and they're ready to deal on the HD but not on the L's.(went thru this when I got my '99 SVT Contour--saved $800 after 2 hours of haggling) Common sense told me I didn't need the L's gas mileage, get a good looking practical pickup that even women like. Did the deal in 10 min and don't regret it even tho I was more interested in a 2001 Supercrew edition. The 2000 version is plenty fast enuf with the 3.55 for a pickup either off the line or doing corners. A chip is probably the only other perf addition I would make with Z rated tires when the time comes.

Mine has 3.55s. I would bet they all were made with 3.55s regardless of what we have read here. I like the 3.55s. At hwy speed of 75 they only turn the engine at 2000 rpm. Better gas mileage and longer engine life.

Hey,
Bummer, mine probably has the 3.55 also.. I wondered about that. All the information said 3.72 but the window sticker said 3.55 - I was hoping it was a mistake on the window sticker. Guess if it ever quits raining I can crawl under the truck and see what it says.
I just got the certificate with the build date yesterday - August 28, 2000!

(devlishz, think you're gonna find that it is a 3.55.)

My guess is that F150HD is correct. They are all built with the 3.55 axle. Something made Ford change the original specs before they began producing them.

One of the people posting here says that he got the 3.73 when he bought it in Mexico. (???) Wish he'd jump back in with more info. Other than him, everyone has had the 3.55.

Cool

Hi all,

I bought my harley on October and was built on February.

As you know, In mexico F-150's are called LOBO in Mexico .

I own a Lobo-Harley Davison. All Harley are made in Canada but with different specifications.

Mexican Lobo's came with 3.73 because of the roads we have. We don't have free toneau and free jacket. I didn't received any gift or certificate.

Pics very soon.

Robert

Hey, Robert! Good to hear from you and looking forward to the pics! Am surprised, to be frank, that the 3.73 axle is being used anywhere. You are the only one that has one so far.

Thanks,
Don

All the literature on the 2000 HD said 3.73 gears, however to my knowledge they all had 3.55 (export trucks may be different) Ford never acknoledged this change with all the complaints about the tonneau cover, it got swept under the rug. The 2001 SuperCrew is listing 3.73's again so we'll see this year. The 3.73's would off set the 20" wheels and help performance. As to the earlier post this years HD will be made in KC as it is the only SuperCrew plant.

Even the Owners Manual does not recognize the 3.55 rear end. It only provides information about the 3.73. So, I don't know what my haul'n capacity or towing capability is because the manual does not address the HD F-150 with 3.55 rear end

Hey, RegularDave!

Well, if you take the supposed build date off of my window sticker, it is 07/19/00, but my dash plaque that came in later says July 26th.

Who knows, perhaps the plaque maker only makes the build date by the week -- too hard to reset the date for each day? Dunno.

Robert: curious about your Feb build date..Ford Canada told me that their build dates on the official HD 2000 models ran from May to Oct with a run of just over 8000 total--1st ones for testing supposedley left the plant mid to end April. And the decision to stick with a 3.55 rather than a 3.73 was made Jan/Feb as a final given gas mileage numbers and the then A4 transmission. Wouldn't be surprised if some of the early 'test' builds made their way south of the US border before the first line run. Anyone here got a build before May 1? Just curious since automakers make us pant a lot before we can drive
