Hello....
Just got a 2002 HD truck last week from a work associate with 86,000 miles. Got it for $15,000. Seems to be in pretty good condition and the interior is really nice too. Love the truck. Just added some stock style flame graphics that are similar to factory except the color is slate grey metallic/ just a bit lighter than the shadow grey paint. They look kind of ghosted. Any issues (besides spark plugs prematurely leaving the motor?) that are common to these trucks? This is my 1st Ford. I do hope that losing a plug as i did in the 1st week isn't an indication of what to expect.
This truck truly is the nicest thing i've owned in a while, short of maybe a Harley. Apples & Oranges that. Hope to contribute to this board regularly.
Later,
Tim
Not all trucks spit plugs. Personally, I would check them just to see if they are tight or change them out anyway.
That 100,000 service interval is bull. Normally people report a ticking noise from the top of the engine before a plug launches which is a sign of it being loose.
It's a PITA to change the plugs but worth the effort for peace of mind.

I'm going to be vigilant when it comes to hearing that exhaust leak / faint ticking noise. My mechanic buddy squeezed me in & got the 1 plug/coil/insert installed and i'm back on the road again.
I'm happy again. Next week it'll go back for the other 7 plugs when he has time for that peace of mind you mentioned.

I still have my 02 at 130,000 miles with no major problems. I did have to replace some hoses that connected with the supercharger but it was not that big of a deal. I do admit that the A/C still shoots out of the defrost some times but other than that it still runs pretty well. I ragged mine out because I used to own a L and i kinda drove it like a L. But the truck being 6 years old can still hang with alot of these new vehicles with all this HP these days on new cars.
Save your extra money so you can put it in the gas tank. Very nice trucks but very thristy.
How true. I just got back from a quick weekend Easter trip to near Yosemite/Oakhurst CA and it used a bit of fuel. Then again I made it from Pomona to Gorman in an hour & ten minutes. So fuel economy goes out the window at 90 MPH! I left at 5:00 am and there was no traffic. So, i kinda needed to see how it runs on the highway. 300 miles on a tank of gas.
