I got 6000k cuz thats what I had in my pNps and I like the little bit of blue they put out. My dad has 5000k and it is a pure white, and reaches out a little farther, but I've got 4 lights in my grill for distance

I've had good luck previously with 5000K -- it's a nice pure white but still has a good amount of light output. So, I ordered my additional units at that temperature also.
Supposedly 4300 is the highest absolute visible light output, and 5000 is a bit less, but just a bit. Higher than that, the visible output drops off more -- that is, it is less in the range where your eyes can best pick it up...but it all depends on what your overall goals are. I've seen ones sold at 10000K and even 12000, but it's way into the purplish-violet zone at that point...I've always wondered what kind of applications where someone would actually want that.
