Talking Trash day for my computer, lol!

I got rid of all my unused pics, and other things today. I was ruthless, everything that I hadn't used in the last month or two went bye bye. I had NO idea the amount of junk that was stored in it. I hit empty trash, and it informed me that the trash contained 37 items, which used 243.7 MB of disc space . I was shocked, to say the least. What is the most you ever trashed on your computer at one time??,,,,,98

I still find it hard to believe!!!

Yeah,

Not so long ago, the size of your harddrive wasn't even that big.
My first PC was a 25 Mhz with a 40 MByte harddrive.

These days computer have 60 Gigabyt drives and 2 GigaHerz processors.

Long live technology.

Btw: Never paid attention to how much was in the trashcan.

Amazing, lol! Web pages load in about 4 to 5 seconds now. Before it was taking up to 20 seconds. Surprising what a little clearing out will do for you,,,,98

I can top that. I trashed a complete server in 1 day, had to get rid of it to make room for the new one.

Wanna see some magic happen?
1 check disc space
2 run window washer
3 check disc space again

I do this weekly, and can easily gain about 30 MB

Note: I don't let window washer delete my cookies because I hand clean my cookie file after every surfing session, and keep only about a dozen or so.

I'm still on dialup, and anything will help, even at 48k I deleted my cookies a few minutes before you posted this. I don't mind having to log in my frequently used sites again, if it will help in other areas,,,,98

Would you happen to know what the Mac version of "defrag" is called?? Never seen anything like that on this laptop,,,,98

For windoze: "Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Disc Cleanup" comes with windoze, but doesn't completely get rid of temp files, like Window Washer does.
Then do this:
"Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Disc Defragmenter"
It could take a long time, but if it does, you really needed it.
The more often you defrag, the shorter amount of time it takes.
In fact any time you delete or remove a significant amount of files, you should defrag afterwards to speed up performance.

For other OS's or Macs, try searching for Disc Defragmenter in your help files, if you have any help files, that is.
