Texas Repo Laws

We have a customer here at our verizon indirect agency that has a charge account with our store. The company has always paid in the past, but randomly decided to not pay this most recent time. We have given them 6 months. We are to the point now that just getting our equipment back would be nice. The customer owes $450 (the two phones value is ~$650). We have already sent a certified letter of demand and ive been going back and forth with our lawyer. He said that a small claims court would work. But that takes time and just adds to the deficit. So a "repo" comes to mine. What are the repo laws in simply going and asking for our equipment back. I plan on going to pay them a final visit before we file suit against them. If we happen to see the equipment while there could we just "repo" it back from them?

Any ideas?

Just don't wear the pink polo when confronting the customer. You want them to take you seriously.

Not trying to be a A$$ or anything but if someone came to my bussiness to repo a phone i would have to laugh at them. Apparently verizon has alot of ticked off customers, i hear people all the time complaining about verizon's internet and just this morning i passed by the verizon office here in town and they had a guy out there with a picket saying verizon sucks. I would just go threw small claims court if yall need the phone back.My brother in law is a repo man and ive been with him several times and people get crazy when you are trying to repo. Hes been shot twice, beat up numerous times, even had guy release a pit bull on him. I would play it smart and not screw with the repo.

Well its a little different with us. We are not verizon corporate. We are an indirect agency. We have to buy the phones and can resell them. We are the little man.

Verizon has the highest ranked customer service out of any carrier as well as the largest internet network. And has had it for years. Regardless there will still be some spots where it just doesnt work, but if that is the case verizon will let you out of the contract without penalty. There is always going to be that one idiot that causes problems. And I am willing to be that the guy pickiting outside the store is pissed because his daughter/son used the internet or downloaded a bunch of games. Its not my fault you cant pay your bill. Its not my fault you cant control your kids. Its not my fault that you called mexico 400 minutes last month. Its not my fault. But it is your fault if you dont pay us for the phones.

This customer just didnt pay for the phones. The ones above were just examples. I dont have a problem with the customer, just would like to be paid or have our equipment returned.

But after working for verizon for 3 years Ive seen my share of problems. Customers are always right, yes. But when they come into the store hell bent and angry at ME because I apparently text messaged on their childs phone 18,000 times. Its ridiculous. They need to learn to take responsibility. If verizon does in fact make an error or there is a mistake, getting a credit is usually very simple and takes about 2 days. But there are some situations where the customer was in the wrong and needs to accept he consequences for their actions.

I've got a story as a Verizon customer that goes against that. Years ago my plan was modified without my doing. Verizon admitted the mistake, but it took 3 phone calls over 3 months to get it off of my bill.

Again, what store do you work at?

Did you go to a direct store to get it resolved? Little agencies have little to no power as far as crediting goes. They have to push it up the path to get something done. Im sorry that your experience was bad with it. Ive never had 3 months for a customer to receive a credit. And every company makes a mistake everyonce in a while.

That is last years results. Verizon & Altell are now merged. Verizon is still on top. Its kinda like owning a ford. Every manufacturer is going to have their problems, but we all drive a ford dont we?

And Im not going to tell you what store I work at. I dont know why you need to know, but Im not going to tell you. Lol.

I'm thinking this was not the best place to ask that question. All you can do is call the phone to speak with them or deactivate the phone so they at least can't use it. lol

Why not activate the emergency gps to find it? Dont they all come with that nowdays? lol

We are not able to simply deactivate the phone, mark it lost/stolen, or change anythiing on their account without authorization. So that is not an option.

And the emergency gps is only through 911 calling. When you call in through 911 dispatch can see where you are, but there is no way on a nonsmart phone to track it via GPS. Lol.

And we have called them, talked to them, sent emails, certified letters, etc.
