I do not brew at home, per se, but there is a place around here called the Brew Kettle where you brew all different kinds of beer. For the winter, I would try either a dortmunder, a dunkelbock, or a Scottish or Irish Ale.
I brewed a Czech Pilsner last winter that really was quite good.
i wouldn't call myself a home brewer per-say but i made my own home wine last week and i just did some taste testing today and i would say it's fairly potent. i've drank probably 3 glasses and i can feel the alcohol, which is a lot since i have a fairly high tolerance. when we throw parties and stuff i usually drink about a half a handle of CM tattoo by the end of the night for some comparison. haha as silly as it may sound all it is is some concentrated grape juice, cup of sugar, some water, yeast, and some time. i think im going to pick up a cheap counter top distiller for about $150 and just get the alcohol out of this wine to make my own liquor or moonshine in a sense. not bad for about $3.00 worth of products. not counting the distiller of course.

I think we've talked about that before... I was at a friend's wedding this week for and they brewed several cases of beer for the occasion. They also went to a "brew-on-premises" (http://www.shenandoahbrewing.com/brewing/guide.html) and that's kinda what got my wife and I talking about getting back into brewing.
There's a local brewstore that carries all kinds of ingredients, so I'd like to make some unique brews.
I like brewing---but I really like brewing at the Brew Kettle. Nothing stinks more than warm fermenting beer and all of the stuff that goes with it. We go to the place, they have all of the ingredients and recipes, and the know how to tweak it if you want something a little different. You can brew anything from a Bud to something heavier than a Guinness Stout.
We normally brew a couple of batches so that we can mix and match. No preservatives, all natural, and you can brew it exactly like you want to.
yeah that's pretty much how i got the idea of doing it. i was wondering how these prisoners make wine and stuff then just did a search on google and tried it pretty much to see if it would work. and low and behold. it may not taste good but it only costs about $3.00 to make a gallon, so if you're ever in some financial trouble and wanna drink your sorrows away you should try it.

I've decided I'm finally going to get back into home brewing. I did some back in college, but haven't had a successful batch in probably over 6 years.
I'm thinking of a batch of Pumpkin Spice Ale and maybe a stout or porter for the winter season.
Anyone else out there brew?
