Who's had knee surgery?

Went in yesterday AM to have a torn MCL repaired, scope, and a fibrous knot the size of a cat's eye marble removed. The doc told the wife that he couldn't repair the MCL after all but said it was damaged. I was drugged up still and my wife isn't the best at remembering such things. I have a follow up in 2 weeks. Right now I'm popping lortab's just to get up to take a piss.

Tried dancing around on my crutches today and that was horrible. Never used crutches before and have to say- not fun. I have to get some pads or pull out the duct tape and water pipe wrap to get creative haha!

Unsuccessful knee surgery sucks!

I have. Twice on the same knee. Orticscopic (I think thats how you spell it). I was out for like a month. It hurts real bad durning the winter. LIKE, right now. And I can tell you when it's about to ran here in my area. It's hard for me to bend my left knee more than a 45 degree. I will hit the floor face first. Some times, I wished I never had done it, to tell you the truth.

I have had three surgeries--I had some work done on my left knee to repair the meniscus; I had microfracture surgery on my right knee to clean out arthritis, Then two years ago next week, I had a bilateral knee replacement---got them both replaced at the same time. I came home on a walker, then went to crutches, then to a cane. I am fine know, umping baseball and the like. PT was a bit@@, however.

Best of luck to you.

I had a scope to remove a torn meniscus flap the size of a dime in my right knee and clean out some cartilage and pre-arthritis stuff. Before the surgery if I stepped wrong my knee would slip on the flap and would pop out of place until the flap laid back over then pop back into place, though it was instantaneous. That freaking hurt! It would happen a few times a year and afterward my knee would swell for a couple of weeks.

While they were in there they verified I have no ACL im my right knee. Apparently I tore it in two when I was in my 20's, and my body absorbed the two ends of the ligament, like when you stretch a rubber band and cut it in the middle. The surgeon said since I function fine without it I didn't need a reconstruction.

Right after the surgery I used crutches once, getting from the car to the house. Took one pain pill, didn't like how it made me feel. I dealt with the pain and walked on it anyway. No big deal. Stubborn German I suppose.

Hope you get better soon.

I had my acl replace in my right knee twice. No fun. The first one failed due to nonexistent phy ther. The second one was a huge success after it was said and done. It took 6 months to be able to run well. I had a micro-fracture as well the second time so was off it for 6 months so that took its toll. the mcl is a tricky repair due to it being a cadaber (sp? Haha) or dead guys old mcl. But it was good just loose due to the acl being tore in half. Good luck with the next one and the only advise I can give is the more it hurts during PT (within reason) the better the end result.

Oh hell yea. Send me some information on the proper techniques for PT. I have to go to a military PT and they screwed me up more than I did with this knee injury. I tried to avoid going to them by making a last minute appointment but they squeezed me in. PM coming your way with my email.

shredded cartilage, bone broken in 6+ places (dont remember). Had 4 pins + 1 screw put in. pins dissolved, screw was eventually taken out. All happened before I was 18. At 23, my knee hurts (like others mentioned) when weather changes.

Do exercises. Try bike riding, that & weight lifting helped my knee felt better.

As Rlieydog said, try riding a bike. When I was into reffing serious college hoops, I was running a great deal---both on and off of the court. That burned my knees out. I cycle now a great deal and when the weather isnice I commute to school on my bike.

I don't ride even though I have a very nice diamond back mountain bike in the garage. I wish I could but I never liked having a swollen knee for a few days after.

Hyper flexed my right knee out in the woods, didn't go see the Doc for a few days, looked down and it was the size of a watermelon. Couldn't even push the gas pedal. Doc removed 97% of my medial meniscus, just left a button nub on the front of my tibia to prevent the femur from falling off! He said it looked like hamburger.

I got a high end custom hard brace, ($2700) and still downhill ski 30 days a year. The only time it ever hurts is when I don't move it for a long time, like driving for a couple hours or when I step down even an inch and am not ready, then the knee kinda hyper extends past straight and my eyes cross That kinda hurts like a mother.
