Arrow F-150 vs. Civic

I hope you guys already know who wins. Civic rear-ended me while I was at a full stop, he must've been doing 15-20 mph. I saw it coming and just braced for impact. Whiplash hurt like a sonofabitch.

Well tonight @ 9:00 EST I left my house to go pickup my pre-ordered copy of Forza 3, and instead of bringing that home, I arrive at home at 3:20 AM with a hospital wrist band on, a massive headache and a 2-week supply of some stuff called "Oxycodone" and "Flexeril"

Basically is was a case of a 2009 Civic rear-ending me. I got a little dent in my chrome bumper, while the whole front of his car looked like it hit a brick wall. Hood was up to the roof, accordian-style. Bumper split in two, dragging on the ground, windshield washer fluid and god knows what else all over the road.

More details and pics after I wake up.

Oh, and Patman: the second after he hit, all my mind could muster up was the picture of your bed folded in the middle and all messed up in the rear. When I got out and saw the little dent I actually asked him if he hit me I felt bad cause his car looked totalled.

Good thing you haven't bought that Mazda yet - it would NOT have survived that anywhere near as well.

but its alot different having a 3500lb car hit you versus a 7000lb suburban

Glad your alright, but damn, another reason I can't stand Civics. Granola heads and their little Civics trying to beat up on Fords, ya, nice try.

oh yes. after it was over he was all like: "dude, i was hoping we could settle this privately, ya know, your truck isnt that bad compared to mine. i wanna keep insurance out of it." i was like: "well, im going to the hospital, and your car is all screwed up. its my dads truck, so ill have him call you"

and yes, PTM time

also took out my Line of Fire. for some reason its not lighting up.

Wow, I was thinking that as soon as it was over. I also knew you were going to be the one that said that!

yeah, I'll be sure they check that frame. the guy was actually like: "well you slowed down pretty quick!" I felt like saying: "thats what you do when cars in front of you are stopped. Obviously you cannot yet grasp that concept"

Really. He got a citation and I dunno how, but he drove his car out of there. Front end looked like a brick wall hit him.

Yes, hopefully The bumper is tilted down some and the plastic pad is all fawked up. But no body damage. Tailgate is fine. Whew.

Pics: (someone tell me if they are working, these are from my phone)

They look like nothing (I was suprised too) but if you look at the gap from the bed to the bumper, you can see how it varies. and I wanted to get a pic of his car, but I felt so bad for him. Lets just say he's either going to have to total it, or require new doors and everything forward.

That's almost exactly what happened to my truck a few months back. More than likely your damages/repairs are exactly like mine.

My bumper had to be replaced, two of my mounting brackets had to be replaced, and my left rear 1/4 panel had to be touched up and re-cleared (because of a small chip no bigger than a pencil eraser.

Those paint chips and dents in the 1/4 panels will up the cost of repairs a ton. Originally I was looking at just a bumper replacement (couple hundred). After the appraiser came out he said the panel would have to be touched up and completely re-cleared. They can do the touch up on the paint job, but have to redo the clear on the entire panel for it to match and prevent chipping off down the road. It seems both your 1/4 panels will need that.

My cost rose from 3-400 for a new bumper to a little over $1400 for the bumper and 1/4 panel work. Luckily I was rear-ended, too, and the other guy's insurance paid for it. They will have to take off all the trim on those panels to do the re-clear. If you have decals be sure to tell the appraiser and he will factor those in. My guy gave me $60 for a complete replacement set.

Just a heads up--but it will cost his insurance more than you think.
