Depends on the type of shop you go to, if they have "Adjusters" that work at the shop then they will just right a check to the shop, if you take the truck to a shop that is just a body shop then you will have the insurance cut a check to you.
right, this shop is tied to his insurance, so it goes directly to them. kinda better because over here they cant take checks over $1000 so I'd have to do a cashiers check or use credit.

that is so, but if i go to a shop that isnt tied to the ins. company then they cant guarantee the work. besides, i went to a Ford dealership and they said with dude's insurance company they would work off the original shop's quote, so nothing gained, but i lose the guarantee if i go with the Ford body shop.
Well I'm getting her "prepper for surgery". Come Monday she goes under the knife. I'm going to wash her down, clean out the interior, and tie up a few loose ends here and there (mounting brackets for my efans and repairing my broken Line of Fire- the power cord was "cut" by the bumper sandwiching it between it and the hitch).
The plan is to drop it off Monday morning. The body shop is then going to remove the bed and begin working on the sheetmetal. Meanwhile the truck is going to be taken (bedless) to another shop where they will straighten the frame and then new leaf springs are going to be replaced, my new shocks dropped in, and a full alignment done.
Presents:
These are the Monroe 32303 (ironic because I live off Monroe St and my area code is 32303) Monroe-Matic rear shocks with nitrogen and a set of RideEffex Polyurethane end link bushings (sits on the top of the shocks).
I will subsequently do the front shocks myself when I get her back. Can't wait to feel the suspension.
just take the wheels off to do the shocks. anything else is just more work you dont need to do.
Well.... screw that old bottle jack. I'll see if anyone on my region forums has a floor jack and jack stands I could borrow for that, but before I do...

Derek! Let me know if you get wind of L coils. What do they run used? $50? I'll slap those on, along with some brand-new drops shocks (what size drop is the L coils?) and full set of poly bushings up front to stiffen up the steering response
