Question F150 'Nite'

Hey guys, I saw a few of these early 90's F150's that had Nite on the bed, anyone know what this means?

Cool

If memory serves me correctly the "nite" editions are basically what a stx or sport are in todays standards as in the types of options that are on them.

There was also a very rare Nite Bronco. I thought they were more of a novelty appearance package just like the 87-88 Ranger GT.

Here are some pictures that I found while searching on Google.com

The second picture's description is It is a 1992 F-150 XLT 4X4 5.0 AOD "NITE". So far the mods have been a K&N Filtercharger, Dynomax Cat-back exhaust, Accel Engine Electricals, Lund Grille Screens, Hella 550's, Tek-Style Bed Cover, GTS Bugflector and an Alarm.

From what I remember it was just an older version of the STX package. Everything was blacked out with a blue "Nite" sticker on the bed and a pinstripe.

The nite was only used in 1991 and 1992. It was Ford's first attempt at the 454ss and sport package. Only available in black, here's what the 92 brochure says about the nite:

1992 Ford truck brochure
The Xlt Lariat 'nite' truck is available in the regular cab or supercab 4x2 or 4x4 with the 302 as standard. Its dressed out in raven black with special bodyside tape stripes and forged aluminum deep-dish wheels...The nite model interior includes a choice of colors-dark charcoal, scarlet red or cyrstal blue, a sliding rear window, "nite" nomenclature on the instrument panel and special "nite' floor mats.
The nite was also available in the Bronco and flareside model in 1992 only.

>>>>I think they used "NITE" because the truck had a black out effect on it. The grill, front bumper, and rear bumper, windshield trim and anything that normally had chrome on it was painted black. It had that funky stripe down the side that went from turquoise to blue, to eventually pink. The only things that weren't black were the polished aluminum rims. I almost traded my 91 4x4 XLT Lariat in on a 92 Nite Flareside 4x4 but the salesman tried to jerk me around on the trade in value of my 91 which was only a year old. He only wanted to give me 10,000 on trade in and wouldn't budge. Needless to say he didn't get the sale. I sold the 91 last February seven years later for 10,000 for the down payment on my 99. Lol, I guess my truck must have went up in resale value since then.
