Average Cost for Wear and Tear on a Vehicle

Just like mileage reimbursement, I'm looking for a average for wear and tear on a vehicle for a monthly allowance. Anybody have any idea?

Thanks

I think the national average is somewhere around 47-53 cents per mile.

Wear and tear is included in the $.50 a mile figure.

Here's the thing, the company trucks are gone so were giving the guys a 400 dollar gas card monthly. Now I'm thinking of adding an additional amount, via a cash allowance, for wear and tear.

Mileage reimbursement is taxed and reported as income.

I would count on -at least- $.50 per mile wear/tear/gas, everything. Vehicles are a big time drain on your wallet over time

If I pay them mileage on top of a fuel allowance then I may as well go buy some new company trucks

Were talking about new home construction supers. Homes in developments so they are not scattered across the state. All within 3 counties and not a whole lot of jobs going on right now

Where I work, I can charge extra depending on how much I idle the truck. Sometimes I use my truck right on campus, so I can't charge them mileage, but I can charge them like a few bucks for each hour. But if I go 10 miles to the other campus, plus idle there, I can charge them not only for the mileage, but the idle time.

Remember, 1 hour of idle time is like driving ~30 miles.

Just pay them the state minimum wage for driving. Should be something like $.50 a mile.

You're in the right ball park.

Smile for gas/wear and tear i say

the $0,50 per mile barley covers the gas you need to include oil, tranny fluid, and power steering fluid, and the wear and tear,

so what i say is $3.75 per mile would cover all that .

even taxi's don't really got that down pact in fact they charge $3.75 for meter and $2,25 for mileage

and that comes out to except for idle about $6.00 per mile

i don't even know how they pay there employee's on that?

The IRS rate is $0.565/ mile and that's supposed to cover everything. Of course, if you are driving a itsy bitsy Kia or an F350, your costs are gonna vary.

If you pay more than the IRS rate it will have to be reported as income.

Actually, the IRS rate for the fist six months of 2015 is $0.575/mile, and I suspect this rate will go down a cent or two the second half of 2015 because of the low gas prices we are experiencing right now.

You are spot-on with the comment that whether this rate is a "good deal" or a "bad deal" for the employee is completely dependent on the vehicle that is being used! For me, I see my mileage reimbursement as nothing more than a money making opportunity that funds my car hobby, and as such I am delighted to drive all over the State of Texas in my modest little '97 Cavalier! Every mile that goes by there is a "ka-ching" going off in my head and I start thinking about what toy I am going to buy next.....
