97 f350 7.3l

Looking for a transmission dipstick just bought truck fixing it up now it has the tube on it but no dipstick just wondering if anyone knows where to get one having trouble finding it either just the stick or tube and stick 97 with 7.3 e4od 4x4 everything i find says it's either for small block or 460 not sure if those would work thanks in advance

Have you tried calling Tasca with your VIN?

Yes and other dealers it's an obsolete part can't find any trucks like it in junkyard does anyone on here have one that they can measure the dipstick and I'll just make one would be a ton of help that's all I'm waiting on to test drive the truck

Okay............drain the oil and change the filter, then put in 12 quarts of oil. Start it and run it for a few minutes, then make a dipstick. Wait 10 minutes, put the dipstick in, mark the spot and that will be the ADD OIL line. Then add 2 quarts of oil and run it again. Wait 10 minutes, mark the spot again, that will be your FULL line.

When you say wait 10 mins and put the stick in and mark it is that running or with engine off i have one more place to try tomorrow if not i guess I'll be doing that

Engine OFF when checking oil. You run it for a few minutes to fill up the filter, shut it off, then you wait 10 minutes to allow the oil to drain down into the pan.

Ok got dipstick done and all that now went for test drive get up to about 40mph and trans goes to neutral rpms go up have to pull over shut the truck off wait a few start back up and take off and do it all over again i replaced the nss and no change any ideas i hope trans isn't junk

Does manual 2nd work? What happens if you lock it out of OD?

It will if that's what i put it in first before it kicks out same with reverse
no change locking out OD

Gonna clean up connections on transmission tomorrow see if that does anything
