Cool My 2006 F-250 Build-Up

I'm a bit mod happy, and never quite seem able to leave my vehicles alone. Since I got me a new toy, I am creating this thread to document my ideas, and hopefully the realization of them. The PLAN is not to go overboard this time like the last 2 projects. Luckily the truck has a power adder already (turbo spool is addictive }>)

If you guys/gals have any suggestions, please let me hear them. I've been reading the spreadsheets for New 6.0 owners and mods. Very good reading. Hopefully I can make good use of those.

Mods will come as the budget allows. I've got 4 kids, so I'm always looking for a bargain. Big stuff (like bumpers) has to wait until I can return to the Lower 48

Added a Fabtech Dual Steering Stabilizer today. Death Wobble seems to be cured. I'll know more after more driving. Just having a hard time intentionally hitting potholes to test her out.

and of course, leftover parts ...called Fabtech and they don't know why those are there either
Drove the truck around a bit, and the steering is nice and tight. Just like a new truck. Even if the death wobble wasn't completely fixed, this mod was worth it for the tightening effect alone

nice truck .. very clean good job so far... looking forward to following this one.... question on the speed wobble issue.. on my 08 when i get it up to 40-60 mph i aslo get a shake.. checked the front end parts and everything is tight as far as ball joints and tie rods .. is this a common issue with the superdutys?

Being a 6.0... I would knock out EVERY single preventative maintence on engine frst.... You'll be halfway through list and wipe out a set of injectors, or clog the oil cooler...

Im not saying, Im just saying

sorry I haven't responded. For some reason this site doesn't e-mail me anymore when people respond. Guess I need to check my settings again.

I bought these goodies for the truck. My 08 Expy has the factory rear backup camera system. I like it so much, and the truck is so big I had to put one in it as well.
$170 for the mirror
$180 for the emblem camera, and the entire wiring harness
the emblem camera is for a 2009-current F-150, the mirror is a 2010+ Sync model (has a microphone). Going to put the mirror in my Expy (and wire to wifes Kenwood radio) and put the non-sync mirror into truck
waiting impatiently for the Post Office to deliever

Not bad if you ask me. I love eBay. You can get some sweet deals at times. This entire camera setup should be completely plug n' play. Just have to route it, get a hot wire and tap into the backup lights...also plan on wiring a diode and one of my upfitter switches so the camera can be used while driving down the road.

I paid $171 for it here in Hawaii. You can find them for $140-150 all day long on eBay. I hate to recommend 4Wheel Parts, but they treated me right for once. Even got a slight Military discount.

It'll be cheaper for most guys in the Lower 48 since you can avoid the shipping charges

get one, it's amazing how much nicer the truck rides now. My factory stabilizer is shot. I'm trying to find a cheap replacement for it so I'll have 3 stabilizers

yes, the 05+ Superduties went to the coil sprung suspension vice the 99-04's which were leaf sprung. Bigger tires overcome the factory stabilizer (if equipped). You hit a bump/pothole and all that rubber starts shaking.

it's not just the Superduty...all trucks with large tires have this problem to some degree. IFS trucks seem to be free of it for the most part though

Cleaning the EGR this weekend and have appt to get fluids changed. I was going to install a Coolant Filter, but it's hard to justify buying one when I fully intend to delete the EGR in October and run custom tuning...might just do it anyways. $130 for a filter...or do another mod....1/2 and 1/2

Nice truck.

I would take care of the 6.0 issues first then tackle the rest.

I'm not a fan of the ranchhand bumpers or bushwacker flares, but that just my taste.

For some quick and cheap mods. I'd black out the windows, smoke the tails, 3rd brake, cab, and mirror lights. PTM handles and mirrors would look sweet also.
