How hard is it to install upfitter switches?
I just ordered the Ford upfitter kit from Heller Ford on eBay for $145 minus the 25% Live Cashback, bringing the final price to $108.75. The kit consists of four switches, four relays, and the wiring harness. Is this something that is completely plug and play?

Mounting it in the dash should be easy. I have a coin holder in the location where it will go, next to the trailer brake controller. I am just wondering about the electrical connections. Hopefully it is all plug and play and won't be too difficult. I am going to connect my train horn compressors to one of the switches and probably connect one to my train horn solenoid to blow the horn.

There should also be some info out there regarding making the Upfitter Switches "always-on" rather than factory default which is only on when the truck has key in ignition and accessories are powered on. The factory default is completely useless for things like rotators/strobes/LED's etc. Many times you may want to park on side of road while doing work and have your truck off and locked but with the emergency lights flashing.
I'm looking into installing some Upfitter Switches in my 2009, and they will need to be "always-on", so if I find the info/link I'll post it here if I remember to do so. Was just checking here first to see if I had seen that info on f150online or not.

I like the fact that they are disabled when the truck is off. I really don't want my compressors for my train horn to inadvertently get turned on when the truck is not running. Number 1 is the trigger for my train horn and number 4 is the switch that turns on the compressors when the pressure is below 165 psi. I can't wait until somebody working on the truck decides to flip number 1 when the truck is inside a shop. i really need to label that sucker with a skull and crossbones or paint it red.

It's not hard, just look at these instructions.

Could one of you do me a favor and measure the height and width of the upfitter switch in your superduty? (just the upfitter switch portion, not including the trailer sway control portion)
This way I can then measure the height/width of the coin holder/trailer sway piece in the 2009 150 and see how it would fit or not.
Thank you!

This was just the info I needed. Thanks to all. We got our 06 F350 a few weeks ago replacing our 97 F250 SD, took it from ohio to florida with my Motorcycle in the back and had a blast. I wanted to put some aftermarket fogs on it an use one of those switches how sweet that they would have this. I've gotta think what else to add a winch does come to mind.
