since when are the glow plugs under the valve covers???

7.3 yes... 6.0... NO

if you do glow plugs, buy both harness's too because they will both break at each glow plug....

pending how much oil is sitting utop the motor, it MIGHT hydrolock, either change the glow plugs after the motor has been sitting for a day or two or spin it over with FICM relay pulled a few times to clear the cylinders!

hydrolocking these motors isnt serious, it happens, just cant go too far with it...

and to add to the 6.0 mod list... BEFORE any performance, you need to add a coolant filtration system... the coolant system is the fault with these trucks...

this is why the EGR coolers fail on these and is ALSO the reason you HAVE to change the oil cooler along witht he EGR cooler...

Personally if i was in your situation I'd delete the egr entirely, Just google 6.0 egr delete you'll find tons(I'm assuming your referring to the egr cooler)?
I have a feeling that mine is about to let go.(water in the oil) But I can't complain its been a good one with 145000 miles on her!! I was waiting on her to let go so I can play a little!!
Heres what I plan on doing: H-11 or arp studs, 03 turbo, new gaskets, egr delete and if injectors and glow plugs are bad replacing them.(lets hope not but mind as well if the engine is torn apart.)
Another thing is when they rework your motor do they valve and port it as well?
Well if you pay them to lol
Also I'm looking for some one to do this and don't trust any one around here-any contacts or leads would be appreciated(as long as they are no more then 300 to 500 miles away)
http://powerstrokehelp.com/company/facility.asp Possibly not a bad choice
If you guys could help me out on this I would be greatly obliged. And sorry for hijacking this post, just need a little 411
Thanks, justin

thats a really helpful link, it can get you through taking the whole motor apart it seems like, i may be checking the egr valve pretty soon, also, changing the oil on your own must be a pain in the butt with the 15 quarts needed. haha and all the filters arent in the easiest most accessible place.

and I hope you 6.0 guys are unscrewing the oil filter while the drainplug is still pulled... if not your holding alot of oil in that system... not that it matters anyway, there is 2 quarts of oil that NEVER drain out of that motor.... we call it the 'pit' where this extra oil is stored

Yeah, I thought that the 6.0 valve covers had to be pulled, but I read that you can leave the covers on and get them out with a magnet.

anything aftermarket or homemade... I would go the home made route...

A lot of good information here as this thread has twisted and turned a little from the start.

My question goes back to page 2...can someone please explain why you would want your truck to smoke during hard acceleration? My stock '06 F350 has done it on occassion when pulling the trailer but it's not something I'm looking to increase in regularity.

Or am I just too old to get it?! Kinda like twitter? lol

You don't want it to smoke, but it happens. Diesels smoke.

black smoke is just cool.... any other color- NO GOOD!!!!

I was at a stop light today and watched a 6.0 f350 idling and white smoke just poured out and engolfed the intersection, he took off and it smoke screened as far as I could see... I wanted to chase him down and give him a business card. LOLZ
