Post Banks Powerpack

Does this product perform as advertised? See http://turboconnection.com/catalog/banks/banks8.html

+120 hp and +256 ft-lb or torque seem kind of hard to swallow.

Anybody have one of these that can verify or refute these claims?

Yeah it will work. Diesels can be upgraded very easily.

Easily? Have you ever done one? I know a few people who've done them on older trucks, and they said it was a bit$%. One guy told me you only notice a real difference when you pulling a trailer. doesn't bog down as much.

Not the installation was easy. I meant they gain power easily.

Oh My bad,,, ya ythe numbers ARE WAY too high though its more like 20 hp and 56 ft/lbs. I would trade my F-150 in and get a diesel and attach a Powerpak to it, if I was getting those numbers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, if you want the truth about the Banks Powerpack and Stinger, go to www.getpower.com. Its the Banks website. Adding a chip alone can give you up to 50hp/100ftlbs. And makes a HUGE difference.

I have a hot Superchip in my 99 PSD.
The numbers are 70 hp increase with 130lb's of torque.
I am here to tell you that my diesel will kick *** on any gasser that comes along in a pick up truck, period.
A diesel, unlike a gasser, just needs more fuel to burn. The more turbocharged fuel, the more power, simple as that..
The Banks numbers are not as high as stated above.
More like 76-135

So would the 70 hp you get from the chip be ADDED to the 70+ hp you'd get from the Banks Powerpack?

Hard to believe you can get that much hp from a bloomin' chip. If only I could find so much HP in a chip for my cars!

Actually, Ford put a diesel in a Escort(not sure what year(s)), but it was a joke. One of my Highschool friends had a VW Rabbit that had a diesel in it. Damn thing used oil and smoked like hell, and was slow!!!! Diesels are for trucks, not good in cars, except maybe Mercedes...

What's the most powerful PSD you've ever seen? Was the driveability or anything else adversely affected by the increased power potential?

Besides Superchips, Inc. who else makes them for PSDs?

And, as I asked before, are the gains from these chips cummulative with the gains from performance kits such as Banks PowerPack?

Question

Big rig: Did you also add a pyrometer to your diesel??? I'm seriously considering the standard 50/100 superchip and I'm looking at gauges to install.

Banks does perform, but be prepared to pay for it. The best set up for the money, I would have to say is.... A "hot" Superchip- worth 70hp 120 lb. of torque and 2-3 mpg, a Airaid intake system -10-12 hp and 16-20 lb. of toque, and depending on the size of your stock exhaust system either a 3 1/2 inch free flow muffler or a custom 4" exhaust. The muffler is good for .5-1 mpg! We are still testing the 4" exhaust for hp and mpg gains. If you were to walk into my shop and pay full price for these items you would be looking at $495 for the chip, $209 for the airaid, $145 for the muffler installed or $500 for the 4". Hope this helps.
