Question

Could the V10 owners out there give some insight on the gas mileage on the V10 - highway & city driving? I have the 5.4L V8 and can only get 14(+)mpg highway & around 12 in town. Any additional info, CC, gear ratio and modifications are appreciated.

Thanks,

Clif

Clif,
my machine is the F250SD/4x2/SC/v10/4.30/8' bed/trailer+camper packages/LT235x85 tires.

Town mpg doesn't vary much (actually I don't do much town driving, mostly trailer pulls), but get around 13mpg. Towing a 6,000 lb trailer over mountain passes and flats gets 10.0-10.5 mpg. I usually use cruise control at 57-60 mph as this is where the beast operates at peak torque (2650 rpm).

Love never shifting down to 2nd gear over the passes!! I love the guts!!
see 'ya

I'm up to about 2000 miles. So far I'm getting around 11 mpg. I'll update after installing the superchip.

I edge into the lower 14's with mine; v-10, ext cab, lb, 3.73's. With the toolbox and a full tank, she weights 6920- so considering my propensity to speed I don't think thats too bad. I did swap in a dynomax muffler and k&n filter, prior to that high 13's empty was best I could do.

Anyway, I was just wondering what kind of gas mileage I could expect out of a F250 SuperDuty 4x4 extended cab shortbox with either of these two engines. Does anyone know of any changes for the SuperDuties in the 2000 model year? One other question...I'm also considering a 99 F150 4x4 extended cab with the 5.4L V8 and off-road pkg. How would the F150 and the SuperDuty (with either engine) compare in terms of everyday driving (mainly acceleration, but other stuff like handling, etc)???

Thanks a lot for any info!!!
Hey there dude. How is it going? Did you already got your SuperDuty 4x4? I have made modifications to my truck. Changed the rear end ratio and added an extra leaf spring, added a locking differential and Class IV trailer hitch.
