Took my '10 FX4 for oil change and tire rotation tonight.

As part of my Purchase Agreement I have "life time no charge oil and lube" but the service rep tries to charge me for "enviromental disposal". I spoke to the dealer general manager and he redirects me to the service manager that wasn't in until tomorrow. So the service rep waives the disposal fee for this oil change but can't the next time unless directed by his boss.

I told them the Purchase Agreement is a legal document but their respones was that my Purchase Agreement "doesn't specify no charge for environmental disposal" what BS.

Then they rotate the tires front to back but the owners' manual indicates a cross rotation.

When I point this out the service rep says they don't cross rotate anymore because the tires are directional. Well I show him they are the original non directional Pirelli Scorpion ATR tires but he says they stopped crossing them because it was causing problems on other vehicles.

Has anyone here this before? More BS?

Oh yea one more thing I checked the oil level prior to going and it was waaaay over filled. I know I should have checked it much earlier but I presumed they couldn't screw that up. WRONG! MY BAD!

I know I have mentioned this on several other posts and I'll say it again I hate going to the dealer for service.

Any advice on the oil disposal fee?

Is it OK not to cross rotate these Pirelli's?

Thanks for any help.

So Nov 30th I was rear ended. Long story short, replaced bed and all electrical, rear frame section and misc stuff. Total repair cost was $14,400 at a certified repair shop. I asked on the frame which they told me it was a 2FT section that ford has designed to take impact and be replaced. Well they replaced it from the cab back! So once truck is put back together and drove around for 2 months to ensure all the bugs were fixed, I take it to have it appraised for a Diminished Value claim. Truck est value at time of accident, $32,650. Truck value after repairs, $30,022 Fair Market Value. Diminished value $5,628, that the third party insurance owes me. I've never been in an accident so this is new to me. Does this sound right? I took it to the dealer to have them appraise it for trade in value and the quoted me $21,000.

Should I trade it and try to get rid of the negative equity? Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

09 F-150 Lariat, black, 6" lift, 35" tires, 20"rims, clean interior, clean body now, 40,089 miles at time of accident, 44,450 miles now.

Hey everyone - I've lurked this forum for a long time and there seems to be a lot of valuable information. I searched before posting this to get a feel for what other's have paid (and to try and not come off as "that guy") and I don't think I'm far off but wanted a second (or third, fourth, etc) opinion before I finally make a decision here.

2012 FX4 Sterling Gray
SCREW
5.0
Luxury Package
Tailgate step (hoping they will swap this out for bed extender)
Trailer brake controller.

Dealer is quoting MSRP at $44,160 (accurate according to Nada)
Invoice at $40,573 (dealer is high here compared to Nada - $39,871)

What they are offering....

$40,573 - $700 - $4000 rebates = $35,873 (this is before tax/title)

It's not bad but I was hoping to hit $10k off sticker. I've been wanting an F150 for well over a year now but I have a bit of an unhealthy obsession with not getting taken advantage of at the dealer.

Thanks in advance everyone. I'm also in Arizona so if any fellow SW members have a dealer suggestion I'm all ears.

My truck is a 2011 XLT 5.0 4x4, under moderate acceleration, when my truck shift into 3rd gear, it doesn’t seem to pull as hard as it does in the other gears. It is not what I would call bogging down; the acceleration rate just flattens out in 3rd. When it shifts into 4th acceleration is normal again. This is most noticeable when accelerating from a stop up an incline and you are giving it a little more gas pedal than normal but not really getting on it.
I usually drive with a pretty light touch on the go pedal (with gas at $4.25 a gallon).
Could possibly be converter lock/unlock but I only notice this in 3rd.

Anyone else notice this issue? (I did a search and really couldn’t find anything)

Well the new powertrains have been out for a while now and just wanted to see how the new engines/drive trains are holding up compared to old setups after 25,000 miles or so. It's great having 50 more horsepower and a couple mpg, but at the end of the day it's worth nothing if your truck breaks down on the way to an important interview/ job. Interested in hearing from just people that have had both, and of course be honest.

ex: Old engine: 4.2v with 5 speed :
owned 60k miles : clutch, valve work -$1200

New engine: 3.7v with auto:
owned 25k miles : fuel injectors, altenator - $700

Warranties make prices kinda useless, but still gives an idea of what might need to be shelled out down the road for those that will buy used.
