I have a 97 Expy. Has anyone tried to install a racing type harness in the middle of the second seat or anything else that would provide a shoulder strap?

My son likes to sit there and I would prefer he have something more than just the lap belt.

I'm glad you posted that question. We have that discussion with my daughter quite a bit. Either she wants to site there or she want's Mommy or Daddy to sit there. She knows it not as safe as the other seats but to a tired 4 year old that doesn't matter much!

FWIW, our Volvo has a shoulder harness in the center rear seat. It's a nice feature I hope Ford will transition over to other cars.

 

the 03's have a sholder strap in the middle of the third row. Damnit, if only i didnt owe so little on the 2000 i would have to break down and get a new one.

 

Wonder if Ford has an add-on (or aftermarket) tethered assembly for us 02's and earlier owners? Should be easy to install a bolt and anchor assembly with the ability to stow under the hinged floor piece.
