I have a 2008 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer EL and heard a loud squealing noise while running the AC and the AC no longer puts out cool air. Looking for help as to what part to replace. The AC compressor or the clutch assembly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
If there's no noise when the A/C is off, I'd think it would be the compressor. Open the hood and watch the pulley when the A/C cuts on, if the pulley stops or slows down it's the compressor.
It could also be the bearing on the A/C pulley. I had one go on me and I thought I was a gonner. I took the clutch off the unit and ball bearing starting going clink clink... melted the entire bearing assembly. I got a rebuild kit off eBay for cheap and it assembled like cake.
