99 Expo Mild Build
#46
Ok update time. STILL havent painted the damn front valance :S Hopefully will get to that soona s the plan is to put in the HID fogs at the same time. BUT i did get one more intersting mod started and though you guys you get a kick out of. I needed (read my wife needed) a rear view camera for when she occasionally drives the Expo. So what to do. Did some research and found a nice 3rd brake light with an integrated camera in it. COOL $499=NOT COOL. After more consideration I figured out that since the tailgate lock tumber wasn't working anyway I could put a bullet camera in there. Sure enough it fits BEAUTIFULLY. The camera I got has 2 wedge "Washers that are specifically used for mounting the camera on an angle. I just installed the camera today but I have not hooked it up to the deck yet as I ran out of time so far. I will be hooking it up tomorrow and pics will follow. Needless to say it LOOKS awesome from the back of the truck. The small dimple that the tumbler used is perfect for the camera. Well see how the view works out for the angle its on. But if it works well I'll do a write up on the whole thing. Stay tuned

The camera I used is a pretty expensive one around $300, specifically for really low light conditions (without IR) and the size. Every other camera I found the physical size was either too small or too large.
Also there were some other cheraper cameras that would have fit but didnt come with angle wedges as well.

Alrighty, its been a while and I havent done a while lot to the truck but got alot of parts in. heres what I got.
Clear fog lights
HIDS for fogs
got the paint to do the front lower valance
ordered the exhaust (gibson single, all stainless. great deal)
bought a second center console
So all are pretty self explanatory except for the center console. So heres what I am planning for it. I have 3 8" sub woofers (cant say what kind they are a surprise) I am hollowing out the center console moving the bottom of the inside tray up to only have a 1-2" of depth in it and fiberglassing the inside into around 1.85-1.95 cubic feet of air space for the 3 subs. I will be removing the stock amp and sub to install the 3 amps in their space along with a Capacitor. The front speakers are getting their own amp the rears are getting their own amp and the subs get their own. Plus when I have the rear panels off (on both sides) I'll be adding quite a bit more sound deadening. I have decided that I want to make my system as stealth as possible. So 3 8" QUALITY subs hidden in the console should be perfect.

Thanks for asking btw. I hope to share the finished photos of the truck with the board soon, as I know a few have followed the project and would like to see the outcome.

402 Good that you'll be able to get back too it. I know the feeling when you just look at it day after day and just cant get the time.
I am going to be doing my stereo pretty slowly. Like you I dont have much free time these days. So lunch hours and the occational hour or 2 I find here and there is all I will have. First things first is run the 3 RCAs and the mass amounts of 0 guage power and ground to the back. Should be fun.

Ahh....I see so its a lot easier to drop then mine was, since I have a 4wd. I took out some 8" by using some 2wd rear springs and some drop keys for the front. Mine is pretty low now but I want more, so I looking to try and bag mine. Going to have to get rid of the torsion bars though.
