2000 Ford Expidition Door Chime Disconnect

Can anyone help me disconnect the door chime? I removed the connector from the driver side door catch, the door chime didn't work neither did the dome lights so I re-connected it. is there a simple solution in stopping the door chime from dinging with the driver side door open?

There must not be a way to do this!
