looking at a new to me expedition

ok my wife found a low mileage, '06 expedition 4X4 that she wants to buy, it has the 5.4 engine, axle code of 16 which means 3.73 gears I think.

can anyone confirm what gears are represented by axle code "16" and if that is limited slip or not?

also what transmission is code "Q" the 4r75 or 4r100?

thanks everyone

I think all the 03-07 Expy's had a LS 3.73, but not positive. Lemme look it up...

EDIT:
Hmm, seems it was a popular option but not standard on all the models. Will continue looking...

EDIT2:
According to this, it's a 3.73 w/o LS? Granted, the data could be old.

thanks, it has the full time 4wheel if it ever hits slippery conditions.

I think the tranny is the 4r75 but wasn't able to crawl underneath it to confirm the tranny

16 is 3.73 non-LS.
2006 with the 5.4 is the 4R75.

nope it's a plain jane '06 XLT with only the basic options(tow package, 3rd row, 4X4 and rear dvd that's it) and we figured we'd get it for a decent price but for what they want we'll just order a brand new one

well my wife found an '03 with decent miles, it's an eddie bauer edition with DVD and all, H6 axle = 3.73 LS gears coler is great it's in decent shape the only draw back is that it has the 4.6

how do the 4.6 land barges drive and do they out mileage the 5.4 on the highway?

I have a friend that has a 99 4.6 that has over 200,000 miles on it. He gets 22 mpg on the highway. He loves performance cars and hot rods but is very pleased with his Expedition.

You may be surprised at what you can buy a new one for. Full size SUV's are not exactly flying off the lots with the current price of gas.

the only problem with that is that I am currently in Germany... I think we're getting the Eddie Bauer. It's really cheap and with all the options we want other than the engine, my wife is happy and it's only 6 hours away.

I have 24# injectors, a CAI and a magnaflow catback sitting in the bed of my green truck in storage back in the 'States so Underdrive pulleys and E-Fans along with a tune would do wonders with the 4.6

it won't be towing anything other than groceries and the baby seat and I can look for a wrecked ford with a 5.4 for a swap if needed

If you are planning on maybe ordering a new Expy, you can let me know and you can check mine out. I ordered mine from ENCS and it got here in May. It is an XLT. We will be around in Graf till the end of the month, then, going to heidleberg...

got another question fellas

I can't seem to find the trans for a '03, new body style, 2 squealer w/ a 4.6 is it the 4r70? or 4r75? it shifts way better than the 4r70 in my '01 f-150 did and it actually shifts similar to the 4r100 does
