Possible to put 03 Nav engine in a 99?

I found a low mileage 03 5.4 dohc out of a rear ended navigator. How different is the engine and is it possible to put it in?

I put a 96 cobra engine in my 98 and there were so many differences it was crazy. I was only able to use the block, heads, and intake. Every sensor, oil pan, wiring, etc. needed to be used from the 98 to have the 96 work in my car.

If it's possible to do the same with the 03 lincoln motor, I could swap out the engines for less $$ than doing head gaskets. Not to mention I would go from 108k to 50ish thousand.

it is possible, however you'll need the complete engine and wiring harness to make it work.

you'll need to run the flywheel and torque converter for whatever transmission you use (then you have to ensure you have the right harmonic balancer), the oil pan from the '99 will probably have to be swapped, you'll need to have your '99 computer retuned.

the 32 valve makes less low end torque, you may end up needing to swap throttle and cruise control cables and few other odds and ends

I would have the complete engine but not the wiring harness or pcm. My 99 is a 32 valve DOHC motor. I was hoping if someone was sure enough that the engines were compatible I would consider dropping the money on an entire engine over new headgaskets on my 107k engine

the engine is compatiable, you might have to swap oil pans too, get as much of the 32 valve as possible you can possibly run your wiring harness wiht some lenthening of a few wires but I am not 100%

My 99 engine and the 03 were both 32 valve engines. I wish I was more positive earlier that it would have been compatible. The engine ended up selling for only $1100.00. That would have made me much happier to do a motor swap and go from 108k to 56k without having to rip anything apart.

Man, do I wish I hadn't missed out on that engine now. Looks like I may end up pulling this thing apart. What I'm most worried about is getting it apart and finding out a head is cracked. At the moment I can't afford the $4.25/gallon and only getting 14-15 mpg never mind the cost of a head.

It's also tough not to just rebuild the entire bottom end while I'm there. All that would be left to unbolt is the bellhousing, starter and a couple motor mounts. Now we're back to the original problem of no $$$ left
