Hey everyone I have a couple questions. I currently have these exhaust tips on my truck.
I was wondering what would look better on my truck since it is lowered. Would bigger tips look alright? Also would sideswept look and sound better then straight? Oh and does having dual exhaust give you better hp and tq vs the numbers in the owner's manual?
Those look like 3", I would stick with those because your real low to the ground. Get some Magnaflow 3" polished stainless tips, what exhaust is the truck running a Flowmaster? Judging by the rusty tips.
Side swept sounds better bouncing off the buildings and bridge walls, and better when your towing cause your pipes aren't facing the trailer. No major sound difference between the two.
Exhaust alone will not give you power, exhaust just handles the engine noise and scavenging & velocity between pipes, creating the pressure to help it perform with the engine, freeing restriction and helping torque. A custom flow through muffler with dual outlets will perform much better than stock exhaust, for the very best torque your best running a single exhaust, but si/do is fine and much better looking.
& I know its off topic but painting that hitch flat black and smoking them tails would help make it look a hell of alot better.
If you'd be open to rectangular tips Gibson's Sport tips are an option. I put them on my Trans Am and am very impressed with them. They have a 2.5" inlet and the outlet is a 6" x 2.75" rectangle which would give you a decent outlet volume even with a lowered truck. The tip isn't very long (5") but with a lowered truck you really don't see much of the tips anyways. If you go to www.summitracing.comthe part numbers are: GIB-500366 for the left side, and GIB-50065 for the right side.

I haven't actually been underneath the truck to see what kind of setup is underneath. I bought the truck in california from a dealership and they didn't have any details as to what upgrades were bought after the truck was sold. The only thing I know is that the original owner (i'm the second) customized certain things. Other then that I pretty much know nothing other then that it has the 2V 5.4, 4 speed tranny, 3.55 gears, power everything, tanneu cover and 6 cd changer lol. I've been looking for some upgrades to beef it up a bit and make it look better. I planned on starting with exhaust. I'll probably keep to the round tips. As far as that goes I'd like to go with something louder and meaner. It sounds pretty nice as it is, but i want more .
If you could get a video of the exhaust and upload it to photobucket or youtube it would better help me figure out what its got. and ofcoarse a picture of the muffler would help some too. Theres a few people on here that will tell you how to volume it up much more haha no worries there.
Obviously I have a biased opinion, but I like side swept exhaust especially on lowered trucks. Also I never go smaller than 3.5" tips, and only go with 4" on something lifted or bigger than an f150. If you don't know what I mean by side swept its just like a lightning, you can see it in the vids in my sig. As for louder and meaner, that just depends on how loud you want to go. My exhaust is just about as loud as you can get, I only have 2 cats and am running true dual 2.5" straights with an x-pipe out 3.5" tips. One reason my exhaust is so loud is it only has to make a short run from the motor to where it exits, and the shorter the pipes the louder it is going to be.
I'll try to get a video up asap. I'm in a hotel in memphis at the moment since I had to evacuate from Hurricane Gustav and am currently waiting to see what Hurricane Ike does . The most I'll be able to do right now is get underneath and get a picture of the muffler. I have digital SLR camera but nothing to take a video with. I can try taking a video with my phone but i don't know how good that will come out.

It wont be good at all with a phone, so nevermind on that A picture or two would be just as helpful.
