I was thinkin about making it where I can take out the cat a run a straight pipe to the muffler. And then inspection comes around put the cat back on. Will taking the cat off make a noticable difference?
ooohh yeah it will. I just took the rear cats out on my 2004 ( comes factory with 4, rears are not O2 monitored ) and it sounds a hell of alot better now.
I looked under it today and it has one. but i dont think i have any sensors. It wouldnt help with gas milage would it?
Not sure on that, might actually hurt it a little, same for the torque, running a cat is better for trucks, unlike a little honda which runs better without one
But I think you would be alright, rigg it so you can clamp it in & out. Loud when you want it, Flowmaster loud whenever you want it.
You could do what I did and go to autozone and buy two regular pipes, cut the pipe and add adapters to the end, and clamp them inplace of the cat. Then when you want it out, undo the clamps, pull the exhaust back from the flange and pull the pipe out, put the cat back in by temporary tac weld.
true dual straights!!! thats the way to go, that or just hack the cat off or replace it with a hi flow

cutting off the rear cat was the best thing i have ever done for my truck. performance and sound. i still wanted mine louder after that so i gutted out the front cat and put a high flow where my front cat was which will make it similar to yours. and now i have a cai.
here are some clips of mine.
