Bought 2 Magnaflows, can u x-plain an x pipe?

Just bought two Magnaflow mufflers (11" body 2-1/2" O/C 11366).

So when I take them to the muffler shop,

1. do I need to tell them to install an x-pipe?

2. can someone tell me exactly what the x-pipe does?

3. and surely they will know what I'm talking about (I shouldn't have to explain what and x-pipe is should I?)

4. tell them to put 2.5" tubing on it?

Is there anything else I need to know when taking it to the muffler shop?

1.i would call ahead and ask them if they have some, other wise you might have to provide one (magnaflow makes a good universal one).

2.the x-pipe equalizes the sound and pressure from both banks. helps recover some of the lost torque.

3.any decent shop will know what an x-pipe is.

4.yes stay with 2.5"

did you buy tips?

if not you can get magnaflow tips if you want. if you want performancecurve.com has some off-brand tips that are like a $25 or something a piece

heres the link. http://www.performance-curve.com/ind...&Category=1408

nvm its $15

How much do you estimate it will cost for the shop to sell and install the pipe if I were to supply the mufflers and x-pipe?

How much do I think it'll cost? I really have no idea. I haven't even called a single muffler shop just yet.

Well it sounds like your replicating my exhaust. My shop did my X pipe and 2.5" mandrel bent pipes for $230.

god darn all the muffler shops around my area srew people over. when i was going to do my exhaust with just a y pipe and without them installing tips i was quoted about $230 just for tail pipes to go to the bed corners. so i just decided to go with better quality $8 a piece prebent tail pipes going straight out the back and a $65 flowmaster look alike muffler and did it all myself. with stainless tips which at the time were $28 a piece for 18" long tips.

Everything here has been answered, only difference is I used 2.25" piping on my setup. I've always figured use 2.25" for a true dual setup, 2.5" for a single setup.
