I have an 06 FX4 with the 5.4 and only one cat per bank and I was wondering if anyone could tell me how it would sound if i removed the muffler. I see a lot of threads like this one but it looks like everyone has 4 cats and i only have two. I just don't want to waist my time taking the muffler off and then having to put it back on because it sounds horrible so I was thinking that someone had already done what I want to do. Any input would be great and thanks in advance.

ok, my opinion, i HATE the way a truck sounds with just the muffler hacked off, if your gonna do no muffler, take it to a exhaust shop and get them to hack the muffler off and run a splitter (Y pipe) and run 2 tailpipes out the back, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-FDU...eature=related
ive always liked the sound of that truck and yours would sound a little louder since yours is a 5.4 and that vid is a 4.6

where i live almost noone has a muffler on there trucks and they all sound great. i like the way the modular motors sound with a y pipe instead of a muffler and pipes exiting out the sides of the truck.

Thanks for the reply guys. Although I wouldn't Just hack off the muffler, I would continue to run the tailpipe to the stock location and I was thinking that I would just leave the single exhaust and a muffler shop is not needed, I do my own welding.
