I am looking at swapping out my flowmasater with a magnaflow SI/DO muffler. Right now my exhaust is dumped in front of the rear axle, so I plan on swapping out the muffler on my own but i was curious which SI/DO muffler would be the best for my truck? Also I am looking for some double walled stainless steel tips that i will have routed out the side in front of the rear wheel. I saw some on the JEG's website but they were only 7" long, I think I may want one longer as I do not want too much of the stock steel tubing between the muffler and tips visible. I found a 14" long muffler for $86 on the jeg's site as well, is this a pretty good deal?

i have 18 inch tips on my truck. it all depends on where you have them come out and how far out you want them. mine are only at the edge of the bumper but its the only size tip we stock so... and is that a 14" round body. if it is its a pretty good deal because the cheapest i've ever seen was in the 90's and 100's of dollars. i honestly like the way the trucks sound without a muffler and have a y pipe instead and have them come out the sides behind the tires. but thats just me.
and for the tips, 12" tips will do you fine, i had that lightning style look and you couldnt see the tubing unless you were waaaaaay low

Get the 14" Magnaflow si/do for sure. Tips yeah as long as they're 12". Dont really need double walled, just costs more money for a quieter tip.
Thanks Darren,
What tips would you suggest, I don't want to go with the plain slash cut, I want something a little unique that won't rust or discolor too much. I really like the look of the double walled tips from magnaflow, how much quieter does it make the exhaust is it that noticable? Maybe some people can post some pics of some different types of tips that are long lasting and look good. I can spend a little more on tips as I will be doing the exhaust on my own and not paying a shop to install it

No problem. It shouldn't be too much quieter, but it could calm it down a bit. Like the Corsa tips do. I myself have 4" by 18" long Magnaflow rolled tips and love them, one of the best looking tips you could ever do in a side exit out the rear setup. I love them and they help the truck yell further and give it a more metallic note, love them.
I think I will end up goin with the same tips you got Darren, I need them to be shorter than 18" though since the pipe will be coming out of the muffler and making a direct turn towards the side of the truck so I can get the exhaust out in front of the rear wheel. Although I see JOSHMAC has 18" tips on his truck, I am just not sure if I want that much or little of angle however you wanna look at it, I am thinkin 45 degrees is the min angle I want for the tip to muffler angle, thinkin more like a 60 degree angle .
You cant get rolled edge in a 45 cut with Magnaflow. If you wish for a dual tip look, maybe stick with a single exhaust and get a dual outlet tip thats designed to exit like that, such as Borlas line of exhaust tips. Otherwise I would replicate Joshmac's exit with the same tips.

I wasn't talking about the angle of the cut on the tip but rather the angle of the tip itself coming off of the muffler. I will probably run about the same angle as yours but I will be running 2 pipes side by side in front of the rear wheel. Thanks to both of you about the tips on ebay, I wasn't aware you could find new tips on there, of course I never looked either.
