Cold Air Intake

I am planning to purchase a cold air intake for my 2002 Ford F-150 King Ranch Crew Cab. What brand should I go for? Volant or K&N?

Don't waste your money, you already have a cold air intake. The only gain you will have is noise since the aftermarkets eliminate the silencer. Go for a custom tune instead for any real power gain.

Do the Gotts mod to your stock intake.

Smile Cold Air Intake

I installed a Volant system on my 2005 F-150. I also installed a Evolution tuner from Edge products. I set it for towing mode(more agressive shifting.
Wit BOTH installed better economy, rev limiter changed, and top speed changed.
That being said, you must consider the ramifications of a increased air charge
on fuel/air mixture. Too lean may cause valve or combustion problems.
Do some research.

That's impossible because the oe ecm software will adjust the A/F up to 25%.....if you are getting an improper A/F mix, it's because of failed engineering on the aftermarket components....not unusual BTW

The 5.4 3 valve (2004-2010) needs custom tunes if you install an intake due to the MAF transfer function. Without them, it will run too lean. This does NOT apply to any other engine.

I would definitely say go with the K&N I have had it for two years now and it works great and sounds even better.

I have a 2015 f150 5.0 and installed the AIRAID 400-293 intake. I got a yellow wrench and the truck told me it was low throttle response. Then driving through water and rain, my truck now shuts down, or the windshield wipers, or the fog lamps, cruise control stop working. I also get reduced power. Does anyone know why this is happening?

Take the intake off and get your $400 back.....put the stock intake back on because it is a cold air intake.
$400??????? Good grief.
