Air Intake Blockage

OK, so I finally stopped procrastinating and bought the parts to do a Gotts mod to my intake. Well I had no idea how bad I needed to even look at the intake. When I pulled the existing intake off, I found a piece of sound deadening material blocking half the air flow. Apparently, Ford had installed some material like Hush-Mat on the inside of the fender. Sometime in the last 11 years it fell off the sheet metal and onto the air intake. Now that i have the Gotts mod installed, I disconnected the battery to clear the PCM and will see if I get any improvement in performance.

My suggestion to anyone with a 10+ year old truck, if you are not going to do the Gotts mod, at least check to see if you have a clear air flow out of the fender.

Many thanks to the great suggestions on this site. I should look into these kind of things sooner rather than later.

I have a 2001 Screw with a 5.4.

I had not seen any post like this before, but I am not surprised.
