High flow cats or not

I have a 97 with the 4.6 and do a bit of towing so i was wondering if i cut the back cats out do i leave the front ones or replace them with high flow? I have true dual setup right now and am going to be putting on long tube headers and was just wondering about my cat situation. thank you for any help.

Replace all 4 to be legal and have no CEL, remove the rears only and add O2 sims to keep CEL off and have a nice real loud rumble. But with Longtube headers you will not be able to run the pre-cats so get hi-flows.

Yes, you can definitly run your forward cats, no eliminator's needed - I did it for a few years. Your still within parameters on the 97 and there's no such thing as pre-cats lol. Not sure where that came from, unless this is something new, well not on the 97's anyway.

Can't run forwards with headers, but they flow about the same as High Flows.

With those headers on the 97, you'll need spun barrel High flows if you want to keep the heat shields. The Frame mount shields, you'll miss them if you take them off lol.

Ok thanks that helps out. I just wanted to see my options and didn't want to lose any of the torque.

Gonna start off with just the back cats off and then probably end up with all four off when I get my headers ordered.
