IMHO.. true duals are strickly for all out, high HP, WOT use. Other than a nice sound you will actually lose power on that 4.2. What some guys dont get is that you actually need some backpressure given with a single exhaust system to keep your low end torque. Just an example here. WHen I raced my SS often my friend had an SS doing 10.90's consistently. He had true duals thinking because he was pushing 500 rwhp that was the thing to do. After a year of racing and daily driving he got tired of the resonation and noise so he went with a Y-pipe and catback system. He told me that it felt like he had more on the bottom. Took it to the track to hang out with the guys and did a couple runs and pulled backed up 10.82's. For you guys thats been around racing, it takes a hell of a lot to get a tenth after getting into the 11's.

Oh yeah... I had true duals as well for 4 years then went to a y-pipe catback as well.

Sorry for the rambling got carried away. lol

It sounds acceptable for a V6, just don't get too high in the RPM's or else the real sound will come out.

2000th post!

Whatever is 100% straight through and stainless steel, usually is Borla & Magnaflow, but in V6 terms you may prefer the sound of something chambered.

What ever you choose be sure it's stainless and not aluminized steel... You will pay a little more but they will last...

First off you are not going to get a good sound no matter what on a 4.2 its impossible with the even firing motors. My favorite set-up to date on a 4.2 is true duals with and X pipe and Flow 40's. Right now im running a DynoMax Super Turbo with a single 3" system, its not as bad as it was with a glasspack. Look around Youtube a lot of people run glasspacks, there not bad on 4.2's kind of give it a old 2- stroke Diesel sound, but it was not for me, it was way to loud and sounds kind of plan and even, i like the first youtube video i guess its more of a metalic sound i like.

your contradicting yourself. Your saying there are no good sounds on a 4.2..and then you say your favorite is this and that..

The only mufflers that sound decent on 4.2Ls are aluminized steel unfortunately.
