i currently have magnaflow dual exhaust coming out the rear and am wanting my exhaust to be lounder. would it be louder if i dumped it? would i lose any performance? (i would like to keep it legal)
also the other i was working on my truck and noticed the inside of my tips were rusting. is there any chemicals i could put in there to stop this?
u should read through all the threads in aftermarket exhaust along with OEM that are about louder exhaust.. there everywhere.. basically ur gunna be told to run true duals. get urself 2 hi flow cats, an x-pipe, get 2 11 or 14'' magnaflow mufflers or just keep ur si/do muffler if u want(but it wont be true duals) and run 2.25 or 2.5'' piping..
if u dont wanna do that, then just get a louder muffler (flowmaster 44 or 40) or a 14'' maggie (unless urs is a 14'')
as for ur tips, not sure.. how old r they.. clean em with sos pad? or get new ones maybe. i wouldnt spray them with anything but maybe theres somethin out there that will help.. i dont kno personally.. TIM
Are your tips polished stainless steel? or chromed? Chromed tips are junk, nothing beats stainless. You could try sanding and painting the interior of the tips ith flat black paint to help stop the rust.

Didn't know you were running chrome tips Thought they were stainless. My yankee ass doesn't want my tips rusting up on me! I get the salt in winters remember

haha no man its hard to find stainless down here, and yea i remember you have the salty winters, thats why my under side is nice and rust free and yea the only problem i ever had with tips was my sideswept exhaust on this truck, the inside was rusting painted it with chrome spray paint, and it finally burned or whatever and turned black looked pretty sweet

dumping it will make it louder, i have a dumped 14" mag that i just got and it is pretty loud with a very good tone. also no droning whatsoever at cruising.
for it to be legal, the exhaust has to exit after the cab. i lucked out putting my own on cause on my turndown the exit begins directly between that space between cab and bed.
The easiest and cheapest thing to do would be to replace your muffler with a piece of straight pipe.

just wondering if i got it right, if i were to just cut off my duals at the muffler it would still be legal, right? in texas.
would my performance and gas mileage change due to less pressure in the exhaust?
thanks for all the help
lol just cuz were in texas doesnt make it legal, and are you talkin about havin no mufflers or hackin the pipes off right after the muffler, you could do that i think just as long as it exits behind the cab
