You forgot to add $3000 for headstuds in that combo.

i didn't add labor charges in but yeah headstuds on a 6.0 are deffinately a must along with an egr cooler delete. $3000 is only if you don't want to do it yourself, but still easier to install than rods in a 7.3.

Or you could just buy a truck that already has the forged rods in it... like mine.

all hail the 7.3. . . Im currently in the market for one... with about a year in the field, I can weigh 6.0 vs 7.3 like some of the master techs on this forum...

I have never seen a 6.0 to date wih over 250k, I have seen several 7.3's well over that, one even @ 903k...

My ratio is probably 15 6.0's for every 1 7.3

I love people that praise the 6.0. Gives you something good to laugh at. Watch me laugh when he blows his 950hp 6.0 up, and I come flyin by in my 7.3 with 175k on it.

Aw no thats a cummins though. A 6.0 cant do that! Unless you wanna hear a big clunk then explosion. Cummins= . 6.0.. ehh not so much.

Even the new 6.7 (cummins) is amazing! It has a retarded amount of torque even from factory.

I have a excursion 7.3 (155k) with stock tires on it and I can baby it all day, and will only get 17-19 on the highway. The best mileage I have ever gotten is 19.1.

6.0's and 6.4's are in no way junk. Sure.. the 6.0 had its problems just like the 04ish 5.4 had its problem with the plugs. There are people that have had a 6.0 that sucked and there have been people that have not had a problem since day one. ALOT of people complain about the tranny coupled with the 7.3 because of the issue with overdrive.. some had the issue and some did not. The 6.0 and the 6.4 make significantly more power than the 7.3 does. Maybe the 7.3 has them on reliability, but then again it has been around for a long time. 6.4's are still somewhat new, and im sure that there will be 6.4's that make it to 350k and still rolling like several 7.3s have. The only thing I would complain about really is that if you have any issues with the 6.4 you practically have to pull the cab off to fix anything. It would seem to me that you dont really know what you are talking about, but thats just my opinion.
Ah old thread lol. Anyway he still calculates it out himself, not off the computer, and he averages 22MPG with city/freeway driving unloaded. I still say the 6.0 and 6.4 is junk. Being a tech (for a non ford dealer) I still see alot more problems with 6.0s then 7.3s. My friend who works for Ford is always pulling cabs off of 6.4s to fix them. I'm sticking to my opinion of them being junk. The new Ford diesel should be pretty good though.

I wish people would realize that the trucks were designed for the body to come off easily... it's like 6 bolts and a few connections and bam, off comes the body.

The body may come off easily, but how many of us home mechanics have the necessary equipment to take a BODY of the frame of a truck to work on the motor?

You can call it BS but my fathers 97 F250 ext cab short box 4x4 gets 26mpg at 65MPH, and that is the AVG with no modifications to the truck what so ever. And that is hand calculated so I wouldn't call it with out checking into things a bit more.
