f150 screw to a excursion?

I'm selling my f150 lariat supercrew and looking for a excursion. There are three engines possible 5.4(v8) or v10 or diesel which one is better for long term Its only driven in winter weather and on vacation and for pleasure I have a beater car for work travel. Thinking of maybe looking at f250 is there a diff between these two besides the bed, like size wise

I would say either go with the V10 or the diesel. The v-8 does not have enough power for the excursion. If u are using it, I would say diesel will last longer...

I think also you would do best wirh a V10 or Diesel. The big difference is the price. Diesel will run about 3000 more than a V10 of similiar year model. The V10s are a bargain now, though the gas mileage is not too great, you can save a lot on the purchase price and that does buy a lot of gas. They are very dependable also, and will tow anything you got.

Thanks for the info. I decided to go with a ecursion limited with the v10 since I heard horror stories of a diesel that sat alot. In which this is going to. Will add picks apond purchase. Couldn't believe I sold my Lariat and in only two days of putting the for sale sign in the window. He even gave me the full price, no haggle

I don't mean to hijack this thread but, a friend just got an '04 w/5.4 for a smokin'deal. He plans to tow his camper with it and is concerned that the 5.4 won't have enough omph. I suggested he buy a used Lightning eaton supercharger to throw on it. Has anyone done this? If so can you point me in a direction?

Thanks,
B

i'm a bit late in responding, this forum doesn't get many posts and i think it's my first vist to it b/c i'm in the market for an excursion. anyway, in repsonse to the supercharge questions, NO, i would not agree with the suggestion to put a blower on the 5.4 in an excursion for towing. i have a lightning and they are 2,000 lbs lighter than an expy and rated to tow less. with any heavy towing you'd be building a lot of excess heat with the supercharger. i have an EGT gauge and with moderate loads with a dyno tuned TOW tune, the heat the blower generates under load and under boost while towing is scary. it would not be an ideal combo. many folks have added blowers to the 5.4s though. i wouldn't recommend it in this case though. talke to Mike Troyer about some of the basic mods to wake the 5.4 up. the 5.4 is a great motor. you may work it hard under load but it can take it. a gear change would be good as well as all the air in/out mods on top of a custom tune.

I just bought an '05 Excursion Limited with 19k miles on it. Sold my '03 150 Screw and bought this. Needed something a little bigger to tow a new travel trailer the misses and I bought. The old trailer was nice but weighed about 1800 lbs less. So I decided to upgrade. I love this thing so far.
