Is it a harsh noise, the type that will scare the wife if she takes the truck, or is it just a regular noise like the locks should be working? If it's harsh, there is a plastic plunger- toothed gear that will- over time- strip out. It's pretty easy to fix, but put aside a couple of hours to dismantle the door to gain access.

If you are having problems with all of the door locks and the problem with all of the locks started at the same time, then it is probably something common to all of the locks. A high resistance contact somewhere in the system that is preventing the actuators from getting enough power to move the locking mechanism may be the cause. Start with the switch on the driver side door and work from there.

The acuators are known to go bad on earlier Excursions.

Can't help with where to get them, but there is an aftermarket accuator that's cheaper than OEM and better quality. Worse case, replace them with OEM.

Exclamation 2000 Excursion Pwr Door Lock Failure

ALCON, I have had very similar issues as stated in this forum. My pwr door locks do/have not worked properly for at least 1-2 years. I press the U/L and most of the time the locks will make a pulse to U or L depending the selection. With each following depression of the switch the pulse dies to nothing. After several minutes can start over and it repeats. The condition exists with all locks now but initially only the frt rt door then added both back doors, then driver door, much later the lift gate lock. Are all the actutors bad, faulty switch, poor voltage,....?

Old thread, but I'm posting this info for search purposes.

Door lock actuators on the SuperDuty's are a very common problem that has an easy fix.

Read through all 6 pages because the procedure has been modified and altered over the past year.
