In reply to CKM, I have a 2004 Excursion with a similar problem. The first time in for service, the dealer took apart the telescoping steering column and regreased it. This solved the problem for about three days but the knock under the floorboard returned. The dealer then replaced the steering column completely. Still had the knocking noise. The dealer sent the Excursion to the body shop where they replaced all of the body mounts. Still the knocking noise was there. I am in for the fourth visit and admitadely they cannot find the source of the noise. I will post the results if and when they figure it out.

Well, my husband's 2000 Excursion had the same problem and he did a little research on the Excursion forums and found out that it is a loose body mount...just needs to be tightened. Apparently it's a common problem, and it will loosen again in time.
