Excursion headlight upgrade

Hello all -- I'm new here. We've got a Y2K diesel Excursion. I had seen the new "projector" style headlamps on the new Ford trucks and decided to search out a similar replacement assembly for our Excursion. I ordered a set of APC projector headlights and clear corners (with the DOT-approved amber marker inserts). I called APC to ask specifically whether these headlights will work with the existing bulbs, and was told yes. I haven't received the headlamps yet -- any day now -- but I am so anxious to learn more about these aftermarket headlights.

I know APC has a very good reputation for reverse engineering, and I'm certainly spending enough money for these things. Has anyone else here installed projector headlamps? What is your opinion of them? Do they provide better illumination? Are they difficult to install? Will they work with the existing bulbs, or will they require other bulbs? Any info that you experts out there have would be great.

Thanks!
